In The Limelight

9.12.2009

How does it feels like for us to be in the limelight? Hahaha! One thing for sure is awkward. When all this while we’ve been helping you to pose, to smile and to act natural in front of our lenses now its our chance to do so but it doesn’t turn out the way we wanted it to be that much but this are some that we enjoy. Taken at the horse stable around Jb area. We think we dress up accordingly with checks shirt and mind my slipper, sungguh tak cowboy.

We’ve been meaning to get our photo taken and been asking a lot of photographer to get it done for us but most of them decline the inquiry with their own personal reason. After surveying we got our eyes on one photographer, hopefully she can make it happend one day since we’re still swarming busy with the ‘move’ Oh yes! We’ve moved our station from Batu Pahat to Jb city. So, to Jb customer’s, clients and friends, do call us if you decided to give us a round of ‘belanja’ treat and of course showing us the places here. We will be honored ~ P

At the moment, we’re beginning to accept bookings for 2010 starting January and like we quoted in our previous entry, we have decided to shoot with our last year’s price with a little add-ins to the package so you know what you got to do right? We decided to try something fresh for this year’s wedding photos (if the client’s permits, of course)

Till we see you again during the next post, Take care and have fun!

Footnote: Pic below is our sister who tagged along with us during the portraiture session. The one that she is is touching is ‘Mr. Obama’

  • Lam & Faiz : hi aza! tx for droppin by here. utm best, we love the place jugak but this particular portraiture is done in kulai. part kene ada permit tu im not sure but i guess we can make it happen.

Missing In Action?

5.12.2009

Hello guys! It has been quite some time we updated this blog with any photos. Just a quick note, we’re still around and still busy accepting bookings for wedding and portrait sessions be it couples or babies/kids portraiture only that for this November till December months we decided not to take any weddings assignment because we’re focusing on our little F&B project. Seriously, it took more than our time off to get this things on the run but it has shown some really good sign if you’ve been following us through our Personal Facebook you should have a general idea what we’re talking about but as time goes by; Insha Allah we will share the juicy bits.

Despite the busy schedule we took some time off to support the Second Johor Community Photographer’s gathering which was held at UTM, Skudai which again the orientation topic is about the pricing. Don’t worry, we’re not hear to chop off your heads with ridiculous price and at the same time we’re not going to place the price too low till there is no way for this industry to grow.

So, after revising we decided to still accommodate our customer to shoot with us with last year’s pricing with a little extra add-ins to the package details. So, wait no more! Email us via info@lafa.com.my or use our official form here and we’ll get back to you within 24 hours if you haven’t heard from us then you should be checking some of our FAQ here.

So, hope to hear from you soon!

Happy Eid!

28.9.2009

Hello World! Happy Eid!! Its been a while we scribble something here, throughout the fasting month we’re busy fine tuning and focusing on clients album delivery process and we’re happy that we could deliver all those album on time before the Eid so our customer could view and share their happy and fleeting moments with their loved ones. For those who sent us a Hari Raya cards/SMS/Emails/Facebook messages, thank you so much for the thoughts. We appreciate it so much.

Throughout the fasting months we got to cut a good deal with our album maker, so the good news is there will be some minor changes in the album making material, texture and design. To us its pretty cool and the best part is they ensure the on time delivery and great binding quality.

We have some personal photo to share during Hari Raya, the main actor is our nephew, Mr. Irfan Rayyan who is enjoying his first ever Hari Raya this year and boy he surely had so much fun with the colorful foods, green packets and all the attention given to him. Here’s some of it. Enjoy and drop us a line or two! Its lonely in here .. hahaha!

Footnote: We have only 2 more slots for the Wedding Promotion. So hurry up!

Some fulltimers in photography industry were badly shocked with the flood of thousands of freelance / part time photographers in our local scene. They are partimers who earned RM2-4k a month and just take a photography assignment to make an extra money in the weekend. They don’t really mind about the charges. As for the full timers, they put their life and effort to focus in photography. That’s their bread and butter. More full timers now back to their old job…they started to work elsewhere again instead of being the player of the industry. They can’t afford to be a full timers that need to compete with a part timers who don’t have big overhead.

People may think…less is better, less competition. But for me…you will run faster if others are chasing u. Thank God, I’m not so much affected by that phenomena, but I’m really sad looking at some good and talented photographers start to starve. They are jobless due to the freelancers around that really don’t know how to charge appropriate amount. Appropriate means…a fair price. Not too expensive and not too cheap. By charging appropriate amount, they can grow-up their career and at the same time…not killing others’ life (career).

It’s a good thing to happen if you’re thinking in a clients’ shoes. However, in the long run…you’ll find the good and talented photographers will slowly faded. They’ll be out of the scenes anymore. They can’t afford to take photography as their bread and butter. Then…we’ll be just like what we used to be 10 years ago. The time we have to import good photographers from Australia, Thailand, Indonesia and even from USA and pay them USD10-20k just because you want the quality.

Now, they (fulltime professional) have the quality but they need a full focus doing nothing else then photography. By that, they can grow their artistic skills, quality services and more that will please you.

Please ask yourself…what do you really want now. A cheap and bad quality or slightly more expensive but come with quality and commitment? This workshop is to educate more people the right way to do costing so they will not OVERCHARGE (good news for clients) and in the other hand…not to UNDERCHARGED (bad news to clients). But getting it in a good balance…it’s fair for all people. Fair for me and fair for you.

If you agree with me. Please spread this poster and it link to the people in your network and bring them here

Its been a while we scribble anything here, lately everything slows down due to the fasting month so, we concentrate more on the album making and trying hard to resolve the delivery manner. We wanted our customer to be able view and re-live their happy moment without having to wait for a longer time, hence after negotiating with our album manufacturer we could cut the time from 6-8 weeks to 4 weeks maximum waiting time. At the same time, we constantly try to improve the outlook and the design of our album, trying new editing skills and etc. All in all, Ramadan is about improving and learning.

BABY PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS
To the mommies and daddies out there, do you remember when your kids are small and how cute they were back then/ do you remember when they learn to crawl? The essence of baby photography is for you to be able to answer those kind of questions

1. Sometimes you just have to wait
There are huge different when you work with delicate subject like this, we have to follow their rule not make up our own rule for them to follow which means, if they are not in the mood; you just got to put down your camera and find another suitable time to shoot them or find something to calm them down and get them in the mood.

2. Poses?
When working with babies/kids don’t bother posing them for something else that they are not. Look for more natural poses that represent them all the way. Bring your camera anywhere, be ready to snap them being themselves while playing, eating, talking, laughing etc. Talk to them, play with them and at the right moment, be ready to snap (which we already talk during our previous pose, always have a mental picture of the image that you want to take even before you hold on to the camera)

3. Lighting Condition
Technically we will suggest an outdoor shoot, may it be your lawn or wherever that have sufficient lighting. Again, flash lights hurts their eyes so avoid it if you can. Use big F number to create that blury background effect so that your main image stand out.

4. To Edit/Enhance or Not?
Yep. Always choose to edit/enhance your photo. It doesn’t need to be like a professional touch but at least it will look more presentable. Colors add life to a picture, that’s for sure so DO NOT hesitate to do so. There are millions of simple tutorials online which you could follow.

5. Keep On Practicing

It took longer than a week to learn a new trick. To get a good photo, you need to be comfortable with your machine (in this case the camera) learn the tools, keep you kids trained to be comfortable in front of your lens. How to do that? Easy! Take their photos everyday from today. Believe us, Practice makes perfect!

Note:
1. Hope the tips helps mommies & daddies to photograph their kids in baju melayu/baju kurung during hari raya, all the best from us. Hope you will get the best photos.
2. We hope its not too late for us to wish all of you Selamat Menyambut Ramadan Al-Mubaraq, semoga berkat amalan yang dibuat. Its not just about not eating during the day, its more than that.
3. Happy 52nd birthday Malaysia, We love you.
